What I have been doing
Well I have been busy. I started working again and have been getting some weird hours. I always liked my mornings free so I could get up with hubby and then come sew for a couple hours before work. They have me coming in at 7 am most days so I don’t get any morning sewing time lately.
Today I managed to work some more on another quilt pattern by Donna Westerkamp. This one has a Christmas theme and I hope to have it done in time to lay across the couch in time for the Holidays. I really liked this pattern because their is not one piece of fabric that is wasted, unless of course you count the selvadges.
I was trying to get a candy cane effect with the red and white stripe, Didn’t quite get the look I wanted but I like the pattern very much. it was so easy and my mind kept veering off with different ideas on what I could do with the pattern.
Here is a picture so far. The only thing I have left is the borders. You can click here to see a larger view

The other thing I have been doing is working on is hand quilting a whole cloth quilt. I already know what projects I want to start next but I want to get about 5 things quilted and bound before I will reward myself with a new project. I have been collecting Pink, black and white fabrics and I can’t wait to start on that one in the future. That will be a great reward for finishing some projects.
I found a cute site. It is called Life Tips and they have sections of the site much like About.com has, only this site is basically all tips. Well of course they have a quilting section called quilting tips which you can see here
If you like gathering tips like I do you may find one or two tips that you really like or you can submit your own tips to the site.
They have tips on everything such as applique, quilting tools and more. I think over time the site will be so full of tips that it will be a great resource.
On another site, QNN they are finally going to start airing Fons and Porter quilt shows. They mentioned this a few months back and then it wasn’t mentioned again, but now they are advertising it to start this month.
With the demise of Simply Quilts, I am glad to see this one will be on a channel just about anyone with a computer will be able to see.
My poor Redsox. They have had so many injuries this year and now we hear that Jon Lester has cancer of the Lymph Nodes. He is so young and just getting started in his pitching career. If you are a baseball fan or even if your not, please say a prayer for this young man. I wish him a speedy recovery.
Well I am off to work, have fun and finish those projects.

Sewing Room almost complete
Well I almost have my sewing room done. I have the furniture where I want it, now just need to put some more items away. Yes this is how tidy I like to keep it but sometimes I can create the biggest mess and then I don’t sew because I am fretting over the chaos that the mess is causing me. I am not an obsessive compulsive person but I am one that likes things in place.
Here is a shot of part of the room and then you can visit the Sewing room gallery to see the way I have done it.

Something different to watch
Happy Thursday everyone. Well my husband made it home safely today from Europe. It is amazing the things that happen on days he has to fly. I just an very thankful to God that he made it home safe. Now he is sleeping and getting over the jet lag.
He also brought my digital back, so now I can paste some pictures tomorrow of the changes I made in my quilt studio. I worked on it a bit over the last few evening when I wasn’t watching my Redsox lose.
I stayed up until 3 am last night getting it finished, it beat me but the rest that I have left to do is all minor stuff.
I also have been working out in the yard the last few days, it has been in the 90’s and so the exercise and the sweating have been great for me. I feel like I am 5 pounds thinner now. Of course that 5lbs may just be the dirt I wash off every day in the shower
Here is a fun link for those of you that like Sharon Schamber, you can watch a free video of her glue basting techniques here
Well I am closing early tonight, I just wanted to get that link in here for you and say hello.

Let’s Say Thanks
Let’s Say Thanks
What is “Let’s Say Thanks”?
Let’s say thanks is to honor our soldiers across the country and increase community morale, Xerox Corporation has created Let’s Say Thanks, a national program designed to deliver thousands of cards to soldiers overseas with messages of support from home.
You can also read more about this on their FAQ page.
Even though my DH is in the Military, I have sent a card. They really do love getting stuff from home and it brings a smile to their faces on an otherwise bleak day.
Maybe for some it will be the only mail they receive while serving their country. If security is a concern, your information will remain anonymous, they will only know your name.
I would love to see more teachers sending in drawings that students have done, they do give you an address to send submissions to on the FAQ page. Childrens art is so precious.
So take a moment and just say Thanks.
