Too much talking, had way too much fun today

Well I was hoping to get a photo up tonight of a partially finished jacket. My friend Chere came over and we had the customary Dunkin Donuts with coffee before we sat down to sew. We got all the fabric precut for the jacket and got some of the pieces sewn as part of step one and that is as far as we got. We had more fun laughing and talking and so sewing wasn’t the main focus. Next thing I knew, it was 1:30. We had a quick lunch and then back to talking, I mean sewing. I hope to work on the jacket more this weekend.
I did sit down this evening and worked on my hand applique project. A few more pieces and I can post that here as well.
I am really looking forward to March, but my big event this year will be Applique on Tampa Bay. Hope to see you there.

Busy Busy

Well I have been pretty busy. Most of it though has been computer work but I have been getting some sewing in as well. I have finished getting the Cherokee Rose Guild Site done and I am very pleased with it. I almost have the West Georgia Quilters Guild site done. I need to work on the gallery for that one still.

We are raffling off a wonderful quilt that has been appraised at $2400. I am selling tickets, so if you want any I gladly accept paypal, just send me a note using the contact form. The raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. That is a photo of it. It is all hand appliqued and hand quilted. The top is an antique, the owner donated it to our guild and they finished the quilting and the binding. Did not affect the value at all.

I have also been making a DVD movie for the Cherokee rose guild to sell and it turned out wonderful. I included over 600 photos that we took throughout 2006.  Once I get the jewel case images done I will post a picture.

I will also post a picture of the quilt that is on my design wall this weekend, I only have to put the borders on. I have rehearsed a few border options and it is tough trying to figure out the border for this one. I am not thrilled with the border fabric I initially pulled out. It isn’t a fancy quilt, very simple actually and so I am putting on simple borders. I will also post a photo of the Christmas wreath quilt I made as part of our guilds Thank the Bank program. We don’t hold our meetings in the banks building anymore so we won’t have to worry about making any Thank the bank stuff this year.

Well I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I am going to spend mine quilting.

January 2007

Well I sure have started the year off with a bang. I am now the newsletter editor and web page designer for two local guilds. Cherokee Rose Quilt Guild and West Georgia Quilters Guild. I am also now the secretary for the Georgia Quilt Council. I think that is enough for now. I am enjoying every minute of it. I am working on the graphics for both sites and that is very time consuming but I really want to bring those sites up to date with standards. I also hope to work on the graphics for this site later in the year.

I had a wonderful Christmas and actually got 2 quilts done for gifts for some family members. I have apicture of one of the quilts. It was a precut strip kit that I bought at Red Hen Fabrics, it went together really easy too.

I also received a wonderful gift from my husband before Christmas which allowed me to finish the quilts even quicker. He gave me a Pfaff Grand Quilter with the new Grace Frame. I really like both but the sure take up space in my sewing room. As any quilter I can manage though.

The other quilt was made by piecing together Georgia Bulldop fabric and dotted black fabric into 4 patches and then I used fleece for the backing.  I ended up piecing the back by taking red and black fleece and I made a large 4 patch with those for the back. Tricky part was making sure they were straight on the frame before I quilted it to the top.

I am still loving hand applique and that is what I hope to work on next. I miss sitting down and hand sewing.

I have a Doctor appt tomorrow with an Oncologist. After all that radiation I had on my face last January, I managed to get more Cancer right back in the same place.  I am looking forward to getting my nose fixed. After the two Moh’s surgeries I don’t have much nose left. Keep me in your prayers.

Be back tomorrow with hopefully great news.

Coming Soon (Well later this week anyway)

Well I have been busy lately, traveling to some quilt events, shops etc and will have pictures posted after I get them all cropped down in size and optimized.

I have been dyeing fabric and have joined a nice group called Dyehard_Runoff on Yahoo. I have joined a couple of the swaps they are hosting. One is a color wheel swap and the other is a newbie to the group swap where anything goes. You dye it and then swap it. The group is great because you get the recipes that others used to dye the fabric they dyed and sent on to you. Here is the link if any of you would like to check it out.

I decided I am going to post a running list of all the projects that I need to do and as I start new ones they will be posted too. I am curious to see if that helps me finish some before I start others.

Stay tuned as later in the week I will post a ton of pictures and some EQ projects as well as letting you know more about what I am doing lately.
