Finally made it to the local guild meeting

Well I finally made it to the local guild last Tuesday and it was wonderful. I will also be going to the evening guild this Thursday. The local guild is named Cherokee Rose Quilters. The guild has about 60+ members and they are the greatest ladies as all quilters are. Intown Quilters Quilt shop sent a gal down to do a small workshop for “Batik Frenzy” by Taffy McLaughlin. She must have brought about 20 quilts that were all done using this method and they were truly wonderful. The nice thing was they were all finished quilts. Just goes to show how many quilts can be finished if you let a longarm quilter finish them.  Next time we meet at the Tuesday meeting we will actually get to sit down and sew our own. My quilt colors that I chose are earth batik fabrics, black, browns, green, orange etc. I can’t wait and will post a picture after the next meeting.

Not much time for quilting

image
Well I just haven’t had that much time lately. I picked up my grand kids and brought them down for a visit while my daughter recovers from Gall bladder surgery. They are so cute, just 2 and 3 years old and I probably lost a few pounds playing and chasing. My grandson Alex and grand daughter Ashleigh are such good kids. I tell you though I fall into bed at night ready for sleep. I decided to share a photo here so you can see how cute they are.

About Pickleweed.com

This site is my way of giving back to the quilting world.

Thanks to all those that have helped me become a much better quilter with online tutorials, books, templates, classes and more.

Pickleweed.com started off years ago (1996) with a site that was purely links to other quilting sites. It was a great site, at the time we didn’t have that many like it.

Now we have so many wonderful quilting sites that I wanted to take my site a different direction. I hope to take some of what I have learned and maybe help others that are just starting out or just want something different to do.

I love hand applique and hand piecing as well as piecing by machine, so look forward to that in some of the projects coming soon.

I will be offering EQ projects as well as mini patterns and maybe a mystery quilt.

Please enjoy my site and let others know if you enjoyed your visit to my little quilt patch.

Finally getting to work on a quilt

Well I finally decided on which of the many bins of past projects I never finished that I would work on next. I pulled out an old pinwheel project.
I was looking at the blocks that I had already sewn together and I had to wonder if

A) Someone other than me went into my project box and sewed these together

B) I was teaching a 12 year old to sew and these were her blocks

C) I have really come along way since I started that project

Can you see where this is going?  Needless to say none of the blocks were worth saving, even after taking some apart. I just couldn’t believe I had been moving this project around with me all these years when I could have trashed it and started over. It felt great to look at it though because it did show me how more advanced my sewing has become over the years.

So after 2 days of messing with that one and finally tossing it, I opened another project box and will be working on that one.
