Wonderful Piecelique Workshop

image
Well I spent the day at a workshop that our local guild the Cherokee Rose Quilters held.
The workshop was on the technique called Piecelique with Sharon Schamber.
I can tell you it was a wonderful day and I love the techniques.
She also showed us a binding technique and anyone who knows me knows I hate to bind the quilts so I will have to try this.

I got some wonderful CD’s of hers that come with patterns and video so we can remember all we learned. I would just love to have a tenth of the imagination this woman has.

I have posted all the photos to the gallery and you can see them here.
I can say one thing for sure, I can’t wait to see what she comes up with for all of us in the future.

Her hand applique is just as exquisite as her machine work and I hope she has some great tips for that as I love hand applique.

Visited some local Quilt Shops

Just thought I would post a couple of images of some shops I visited recently.
Quilt Station, this shop just opened in Hiram Georgia. She was previously located in California and moved her shop out her to be with her family. Her website is Quilt Station and she should have this updated to the new area shortly.
The second shop I have been to before and it is called Qwiltz and is located in Bowden, Georgia.  This shop is always fun to visit and you can be sure to find something that you won’t find at the other quilt shops. We found some great fabric for hair. The link to her shop is Qwiltz
You can visit the images of the shop that I took Quilt Shops.

Lazy but productive Sunday

I love days like today. Went to Church, came home had lunch and then went up to my sewing room and worked on a Quilt University class project called Celtic Magic.  Listened to podcasts by Annie at Annie’s Quilt Stash and that was it. It was one of those days where you don’t have a schedule to meet, no one is trying to get you to do anything or go anywhere. You know those days where life is good. I found out earlier this week that my husband gets to come back early and so I have been on cloud heaven ever since. He was supposed to be gone until Summer but now I get him back this month. Yes I am excited.

My radiation appointments for my skin cancer are now finished and I just have a couple of follow up appointments and I will be done with that. The doctor is still undecided about needing plastic surgery and I won’t know anything on that until April.

Quilt top finished for the Cotton Patch

imageI finally have a chance to post a photo of the top that I offered to make for The Cotton Patch quilt shop.

Was this a pattern that I would have purchased while out shopping, no not really.
I would have thought too easy and not really my taste, well let me tell you it was a challenge trying to keep all those rows straight and still come out to the size that it was supposed to be.
I was close enough to do it though.

This was the first time I worked with hand dyed felted wool and that was fun. All the applique is felted wool.

Once the quilt was done I did enjoy it, the only thing I would have done differently was chose fabrics more in line with my tastes.
I may make it again some day as I did get to keep the pattern.

Thanks for the opportunity to work with you Doni. I enjoyed it.
