Something different to watch
Happy Thursday everyone. Well my husband made it home safely today from Europe. It is amazing the things that happen on days he has to fly. I just an very thankful to God that he made it home safe. Now he is sleeping and getting over the jet lag.
He also brought my digital back, so now I can paste some pictures tomorrow of the changes I made in my quilt studio. I worked on it a bit over the last few evening when I wasn’t watching my Redsox lose.
I stayed up until 3 am last night getting it finished, it beat me but the rest that I have left to do is all minor stuff.
I also have been working out in the yard the last few days, it has been in the 90’s and so the exercise and the sweating have been great for me. I feel like I am 5 pounds thinner now. Of course that 5lbs may just be the dirt I wash off every day in the shower
Here is a fun link for those of you that like Sharon Schamber, you can watch a free video of her glue basting techniques here
Well I am closing early tonight, I just wanted to get that link in here for you and say hello.

Let’s Say Thanks
Let’s Say Thanks
What is “Let’s Say Thanks”?
Let’s say thanks is to honor our soldiers across the country and increase community morale, Xerox Corporation has created Let’s Say Thanks, a national program designed to deliver thousands of cards to soldiers overseas with messages of support from home.
You can also read more about this on their FAQ page.
Even though my DH is in the Military, I have sent a card. They really do love getting stuff from home and it brings a smile to their faces on an otherwise bleak day.
Maybe for some it will be the only mail they receive while serving their country. If security is a concern, your information will remain anonymous, they will only know your name.
I would love to see more teachers sending in drawings that students have done, they do give you an address to send submissions to on the FAQ page. Childrens art is so precious.
So take a moment and just say Thanks.
Need A Little Inspiration?
It has been warm here in Georgia, I am used to it, but still it is pretty warm when you are out trying to do yard work. Well needless to say it is coming along slowly. By the time I get in at night I am whooped.
The 2006 winners of the Sydney Quilt Show is online in case you were like me and just couldn’t make it this year.
You can view the quilts here.
They have some great looking quilts for inspiration. Best of show is a wonderful Baltimore style quilt.
My favorites are:
Iron Lace - Spring by Eileen Campbell
It Started with Auntie Green by Pam Curtis
Tango in the Wind by Luixin Newman, the quilting on this is wonderful. but then again they don’t call her the Thimble lady for nothing.
At Home byJan Duddle
Genie Out of the Bottle by Wendy Scott reminds me of something Ricky Tims would do.
I think they had a great lot of quilts for their show and I am sure the judging was intense.
The 1st and 2nd place art quilts are very, very nice.
My most favorite quilt though wasn’t even a prize winner. It is the raffle quilt on their homepage.
You can see it here.
Anyone that knows me, knows I love daisies and this quilt is full of wonderful looking daisies.
This guild also has what they call a Friday showcase. it is really nice, they feature a different quilt artists work you can see some of them here
I did get some quilting done this morning on my wallhanging, I am not real satisfied with it, I should have used mettalic thread but oh well. Next time right.
I also have been staring at my quilt studio and already I am ready to move a few things around. Mainly due to lighting. I took out the overhead fixture that was there a few months ago and it is wonderful. I have 3 halogen spotlight type lights and they are wonderful but at night if I am not directly in one of those lights I can’t see very well. I have my sewing table in the middle of the room under those lights, but I want to move the table up against the wall and bring my cutting table and fabric carts to the middle so that I can always have it fully extended with the large mat on top and the ironing on the other side of it. I would then put a 2 or 3 fixture track light on the wall over my sewing table. If I keep adding stuff with that uses power I am going to have to get my own electrical panel for my sewing room.
Well I am calling it a night, my Redsox lost, they are playing Tampa next.
Have a great Friday everyone.

Time for sewing?
Well I haven’t had much time to sew because of work and yard work. I did get a small wallhanging basted and hope to quilt it tonight.
It is blazing hot outside and so I am debating on just staying in and finishing it.
There was a teen that died this morning here in Atlanta from the heat, it kind of makes you afraid to go outside.
My Redsox won again last night so I am happy. Go Redsox and Big Papi. He does a great job.
My favorite players though are Mark Loretta because he is so consistant. My favorite player used to be Bill Miller, for the same reason.
I am praying that the MRI for Jason Veritek is ok.
I found on a site today that quilters who sell quilts (like me), now have another choice other than ebay. Here is the link to read more about it. And here is the link to see the site itself. It looks pretty new but I wish the site much success.
By the way, am I the only person out there that doesn’t like Quilter’s Home Magazine. I bought the first issue and was so unhappy with it. I found it to be a waste of the paper it was printed on. I would love to see some quilting magazines that may be different than the norm, but this one was not my cup of tea.
Also Pat Sloan has the website called Quilters Home for quite a while and even though this magazine deals with the home it could have picked a name that wasn’t already associated with a quilter.
Yes many quilters do decorate homes with quilts in mind I don’t think we need a magazine to help us choose our furniture or paint chips. We already know how to do all that. I did not feel any inspiration from this magazine. Phew! Yuck! Phew! is all I can say.
Primedia just sold off there crafts division and so I hope that this is not what is to come in all our magazines we had from them.
Well I am off to get some work done either in the yard or in the sewing room. Have a wonderful quilty day everyone.
